poetry&psychoanalysis at times of lockdown
There was an international happening organised to to commemorate Freud's birthday on 6 May. We met in Verona cafe and read the following papers: Splitting of the ego in the process of defence, Mourning and melancholia, An autobiographical study, Three essays on the theory of sexuality, Complete letters of Sigmund Freud to Wilhelm Fleiss 1887-1904, The unconscious, and On the sexual theories in children.
The Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Association of Australasia (PPAA) stands in solidarity with all those who value inclusion, empathy, and kindness, in strongly condemning last week’s vile attack on Muslims in Christchurch. We vow to work towards creating a society in which people of all faiths, or no faith, are welcome, and to speak out against divisive and fear-inducing words and actions wherever we find them.
To our colleagues in New Zealand, we express our deep sadness at this horrific event and offer our support. Our thoughts are also with surviving family and friends, as well as Muslims and people of all faiths.
